Coast to coast: what the time gap looks like
The continental United States spans four main time zones, and the distance from India changes with them. New York is 9 h 30 min behind India while daylight saving time applies and 10 h 30 min behind in winter. Los Angeles and Seattle are 12 h 30 min behind in summer and 13 h 30 min in winter.
On the East Coast our office hours leave roughly an hour at the start of your day for a live call. On the West Coast there is no overlap inside normal hours on either side, so work runs on written updates, recorded walkthroughs and a review cycle you control. Regular live meetings at other times can be discussed and set out in the proposal.
Daylight saving time begins on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November; Hawaii and most of Arizona do not change their clocks. India keeps the same time all year, so the gap moves by an hour twice a year.
From first call to handover
Because most of our working day falls during your night, the proposal also names a weekly review slot and the channel for urgent questions.
- Discovery call, scheduled in your early morning: what you need, what exists today and who signs off
- Written proposal: scope, milestones, assumptions, timeline and commercial terms, including currency and payment, before any work begins
- Milestone delivery: each milestone ends with something you can test, plus a short note on what changed
- Handover: code, credentials, runbooks and documentation transferred to your organization, and our access removed
Privacy law is a state-by-state patchwork
There is currently no single, comprehensive federal privacy law in the United States. Federal statutes cover particular sectors and kinds of data, such as health, financial and children’s data, and a growing number of states have passed their own consumer privacy laws.
California’s Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, is the most widely discussed example. It gives California residents rights to know, delete and correct their personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing, and it is enforced by the state Attorney General and the California Privacy Protection Agency (now known as CalPrivacy). Several federal privacy bills are before Congress, so the picture may change.
We do not give legal advice on which laws apply to you. We work within the requirements your counsel sets and the terms of your own contracts: limiting the personal data our team can see, using test data where possible, and following your rules on where data is stored.
Access stays in your organization’s name
- Domains, hosting, repositories and cloud accounts are created under your organization and billed to you directly by the provider
- We work through individual, least-privilege accounts or roles, never a shared admin login
- Secrets live in your vault or your cloud provider’s secret store
- At handover you revoke our access, and we confirm in writing which accounts and keys were used
US projects that suit overnight, remote delivery
The projects that fit this model have clear acceptance criteria and do not depend on someone being on call during your business hours: a new internal tool, a cloud cost cleanup, a CI/CD pipeline for a small engineering team, or automating a reporting process that eats a day each month. Live production support for a US daytime service is a poorer fit unless extended hours are agreed in writing.
Time zones and meeting windows
India Standard Time is UTC+5:30 all year; India does not change its clocks.
| Time zone | Difference from India | Typical overlap |
|---|---|---|
| Eastern Time (New York, Atlanta, Miami) | India is 9 h 30 min ahead (10 h 30 min in winter) | March to November: about 08:00–09:30 ET, which is 17:30–19:00 IST. November to March: about 07:30–08:30 ET (18:00–19:00 IST). |
| Central Time (Chicago, Dallas, Houston) | India is 10 h 30 min ahead (11 h 30 min in winter) | March to November: roughly 07:30–08:30 CT (18:00–19:00 IST). In winter the office days barely touch, so updates are mostly written. |
| Pacific Time (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle) | India is 12 h 30 min ahead (13 h 30 min in winter) | No overlap within normal office hours on both sides: our day ends at 06:30 PT (05:30 in winter). Work is asynchronous, and any live call times are agreed in the proposal. |
Common questions
Can we meet during our business hours?
Our office hours are 10:00–19:00 IST, Monday to Saturday. That is early morning on the East Coast and the middle of the night on the West Coast. If your project needs calls at other times, raise it in the discovery call; any shifted or extended meeting times are agreed in the written proposal.
Can you work under our own contract and security policies?
Send your contract terms, security questionnaire and policies before work starts and we will review them and answer accurately. What we agree to is recorded in the written proposal and the contract between us.
How are pricing and payment handled for US clients?
Every project is quoted individually. Scope, currency, payment schedule and contract terms are set out in the written proposal before any work begins.
